a few select poems from me, a part-time wordsmith

Hush Mermaid, there is a Mouse

raises finger
puts it to your lips
how lost you pretend to be
little girl
in a world you have made your own
as soon as a kindred spirit steps in

hurridly you tidy up
omigosh someone may actually see me now
your foot pushes a half eaten dinner plate under your bed
what will i say
you act lost for words

foolish girl, this is your world
speak with your heart and not your tongue
don't you know poetry is like a dream
in it you can forge any world you can imagine
there are no limits and boundaries
leave them behind with your cares and woes

hold my hand. jump!, and we are through the wardrobe
past the overcoat lie the lion and the witch

splash!
the surface ripples and we swim past the glass surface
my imagination and you become a mermaid
look, the seaweed dance for us
your imagination and I become Obewan Kenobe
that I belong her, can it matter not?

in a fountain we swim, underwater
it rains, can it so here?
the drops, ignite on my hair
i catch a snowflake on my tongue

look there is mary poppins
the sidewalk chalk blurs in the currents
i dance like dick van dyke
we dive into the muddy washed out image

now I am a lion, now a white horse, now a dragon
i hand you a rainbow
you look at it glowing in your hands
it changes into a butterfly who speaks
of cherry blossoms and gum drops

renni shakes and the dream is shattered
alone you sit, the colored glow of the monitor scrolls by
irc words like my watercolor painting blur
you close your eyes and feel your heart
it beats but you hear nothing

there is a mouse at your window
he peers in and can not see
what alone stirs inside your mind
only your fingers taste your dreams...
