a few select poems from me, a part-time wordsmith

Forever

Its funny how all the worst mistakes I made
in the past
suddenly - as though some fate had planned it all along
are not mistakes at all...

I came to this school
becasue I didn't know how close it was to Chicago
or how cold the winters become
I stayed at this school
because of a man I thought I would love forever
who tore me apart, instead
I couldn't graduate early
becasue my grades were miserable, and I couldn't cut the program.

But...
if I had been a better student
or had the strength to walk away from hell a little sooner,

or known a little more about the lay of the land,
or even discarded too early
the God that warped my soul

I never would have met you

A million people would shake their heads
to hear me reason this way
But they are fools

You are my hope, my dreams, my joy
But more -
You are my teammate.  The game:
Life
I live for our laughter
I live for the way our two spirits
run
and fly
and fall
to rise again...
we are the spinx of a troubled age
from the ashes, you and I
have risen,
we laugh at hell
we laugh at death
we have fought them
and we have won

I have been angry with you
I have been depressed
bored
nervous
I have even cried:
but only, on the surface
Inside
in my deepest being
you will find only...
JOY
becasue - I love you

and although I have not told you
I want forever
and I dream that someday I will dare
to be a star
Boy; I am more terrified than you
but we come by nothing
playing it safe

do not run away.
I demand nothing
of you
or of life
and I will remind you

how to find happiness,
in a small black mouse
hope,
in a lonely star
entertainment,
in the quiet beauty of the rose
peace,
in a stromy ocean
new life,

in every sunset
you know these things only too well...
but you have forgotten

hold me
and I will be your warmth
I will be you answer
I will be your Eden
I will be your home
Forever....
